Online English Tuition for Students in South Africa

I am based in South Africa, SACE registered and UK qualified, and I work with South African students studying English through a number of different curricula, including British GCSE and IGCSE, and Cambridge IGCSE.

My dual qualification means I understand the range of curricula families here are working with, whether through an international school, a Cambridge affiliated school, or the IEB system.

What I teach

Alongside GCSE and IGCSE English Literature, tuition is also available in Cambridge IGCSE Literature in English (0475) and Cambridge IGCSE First Language English (0500). The same core skills apply throughout: close reading, independent interpretation, and the ability to write with clarity and control, whether responding to a set text or an unseen passage.

Why online tuition works well here

Teaching online means South African students can access specialist, one to one tuition regardless of where they live in the country. Sessions are conducted one to one, in real time, working through the specific texts and syllabus a student is actually studying at their school.

My background

I hold Qualified Teacher Status (UK) and am SACE registered in South Africa, with more than 20 years' experience teaching English, including time as Head of English. My specialism is English Literature, and I also support Cambridge IGCSE English for students studying under that curriculum. If your child is studying under a different board, I am happy to discuss the syllabus in detail before confirming tuition would be a good fit.

Getting in touch

If you would like to discuss whether tuition would suit your child, including confirming their curriculum, set texts, and exam board, you are welcome to get in touch via the enquiry form. I respond personally to every enquiry.
